This is an imitation of the original Blue-Decorated Whitestone Bristol Ware Salt Box which was first produced in 1907. This is an easy-to-spot reproduction, which is evident by the smooth clay body and glaze. The authentic originals were much more crude and weigh a considerable amount more than this one. This is one of the first fakes we have seen in this pattern.

The Online Guide to Brush McCoy Pottery has a fairly large section on this Line, including surprising information about where it was first produced.
